Getting Started

Building your own website is probably easier than you think. This site is designed to take you through the entire process as quickly and easily as possible. Publishing your first website can be a daunting prospect to the beginner, but trust us when we tell you that it is a lot easier than you think it is. The hardest part is actually starting, but once you are on the way, and have your first page online, you'll wonder what you were worried about.

Let's get on with it!

You can build a website absolutely free, and we recommend that you start out using all of the free resources and techniques that we show you in this tutorial. When you get a little more ambitious, there are some very cheap utilities and tools that can enhance your website greatly, but we'll look at those later. For now...

What you need to get started:

  • basic computer skills
  • a computer
  • connection to the Internet
  • an html editor (the software used to build a website)
  • server space (a parking space in which to place your website)
