Skateboarding is a sport that is close to my heart, but I think one of the things that I liked most about hanging out in skateboard shops was the ever changing wall of skateboard deck art that was constantly updating with ever wilder, cooler, funkier, scarier or whateverer graphics. I honestly think that on any day for the last 20 years you could take the display wall of just about any skate board shop in the world, drop it straight into the Museum of Contemporary Art.
So I guess we have no choice but to kick off with the classics….

If you are really keen, they have a whole art gallery devoted to this iconic logo. http://powell-peralta.com/features/rip-the-ripper/the-pieces/

OK. Enough of 1985. Check out some of the latest graphics, and innovations in the world of skateboarding.

Way cool! This could go far beyond 100.Have you seen the skateboard guitar? Wonder if someday in the future a vintage unused Peralta(or any board with cool grafix) will achieve an art status like a Monet or Picasso.Hmm…

After looking at this collection of new crap, I was just reminded of that Jason Jessee quote “I love skateboarding so much, I want it to die.”. And I couldn’t agree more. A folding deck? A Louis Vuitton board? Jesus Christ!!! What has become of us. It used to be cool when a new pro model would come out every year or two with a new graphic. There was something to look forward to. Now, there is so much senseless crap being shoved down our throats by people that don’t even skate it makes it hard for the people that do to not to get lumped in that same lot. Don’t be a useless consumer and feed the industry that isn’t run by skaters and doesn’t give a shit about us. Just my 2 cents.
